Forestry Commission: Woodfuel Case Studies
Woodfuel Wales

Woodfuel Wales have links with every aspect of the woodfuel industry and are working hard to help develop the woodfuel supply chain in Wales and the Marches, providing support to producers and advice to the public.

Woodfuel Wales is a member led organisation funded through European Rural Development Fund money and member subscriptions. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds from growers, systems suppliers and fuel producers.

Awel Aman Tawe community energy
A community energy project in the Upper Swansea and Amman Valleys.
Centre For Alternative Land Use
CALU is Wales' Development Centre with responsibility for knowledge and technology transfer in relation to biomass energy.
Coed Cymru
Coed Cymru is an all Wales initiative to promote the management of broadleaf woodlands and the use of locally grown hardwood timber in Wales. Includes information and advice on wood pellets and woodfuel heating.
National Non-Food Crops Centre
A source of information on the use and implementation of non-food crop products and technologies in the UK.
PBE Bio Energy

Represents British renewable energy producers and promotes the use of sustainable energy in the UK.

An umbrella name for various energy crop research projects undertaken by Cardiff University Llysdinam Field Centre.

Wood Energy Business Scheme
WEBS provides grant support for installation and operation of woodfuel powered heating and power generation and equipment for processing of roundwood into chip and pellet form.
Wood Fuel Powys
This project is designed to identify, promote and maximise opportunities for the development of the sustainable wood energy sector in Powys and to provide a complete service.
Lightfoot Wood Stove Project
The Lightfoot Wood Stove Project is based in Mid Wales and designed to try to effect behavioural change in householders in an attempt to use Woodfuel, in this case logs, as efficiently as possible. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of best practice when using Woodfuel in a stove, to get the most out of the woodfuel (with the added cost-savings benefits) and reduce the use of fossil fuels.
