Existing installations

There are many successful biomass energy installations around the UK. Use this page to find relevant examples near you

It can be very helpful to visit existing installations of a similar type and size to what might be being considered, and to speak to those involved in their day to day operation. This can give insights into issues to be aware of, potential problems to be avoided and tips to consider.

This page will be populated with individual case studies, as well as links to existing pages of case studies on the websites of regional organizations, commercial installers and others.

The Renewable Energy Association has undertaken a survey of renewable heat in Britain. The latest version of the REA Renewable Heat map of Britain was published October 2008 and can be obtained, as hard copy only, from the Renewable Energy Association. The REA main switchboard number is: 020 7925 3570 or they can be emailed vie their website www.r-e-a.net

DECC Planning Database Extract

The results of the monitoring work are recorded each month in a relational database. An extract (in spreadsheet form) from this database, together with a progress datasheet, is made available via this website.

The key findings are also summarised in Planning Statistics covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland together with an overview of the UK. These reports provide details on the progress of renewable energy projects according to technology type, installed capacity and location.
