Woodfuel WIG
The Woodfuel Woodland Improvement Grant has been established to assist harvesting and marketing activity. It is funded differently from the rest of EWGS so is not linked to environmental or social improvement, and we are particularly keen to support neglected or under managed woodlands.

In order to be eligible, you must have a woodland management plan in place that includes details of timber volume and harvesting plans. The FC management plan template is currently being adjusted to reflect this and we encourage those who don’t have a plan but interested in this new grant to apply for Woodland Planning Grant now.

Key features of the new grant are:

  • Woodfuel WIG will offer a 60% contribution to costs.
  • The WIG can support forest roads, access tracks and other related harvesting infrastructure.
  • The WIG can support the costs of mensuration work and drawing up / supervising harvesting contracts.

Further details are available on the Forestry Commission website.
